Healing Recovery Shake
The recipe is designed to optimize fibre, essential fats, protein, zinc, vitamin C and antioxidants
This meal replacement shake is wonderful when you are recovering from surgery in the early day/weeks of recovery, when your appetite may be poor or you don’t feel strong enough to prepare and cook multiple meals throughout the day. It’s also a great addition if someone could bring this shake to you in hospital. The earlier you begin your ‘healing regime’ the better.
Ingredients
‘clean protein powder’ – hemp or pea protein are good choices (I try and go for organic pea protein if I can)
1 or 2 table spoons of collagen hydrolysate (I use Edible Health collagen and use it everyday)
2 fistfuls of berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)
1 fistful spinach
A tablespoon of sunflower seeds
½ ripe banana if you need to sweeten
1 teaspoons of Omega 3 oil or ½ an avocado
Method
Throw all the ingredients into a blender, I use a nutri bullet, but any blender will do. Add 1 cup of water and whizz together to a nice smooth consistency, if you require more fluid because it is too thick, just add more water and mix together. Drink as soon as possible after making and Enjoy!
Note: for ease of use, you can use frozen spinach and berries. If you need a little sweetener you can also use a few cubes of mango!
